Ways to get your face out there at little or no cost

One of the big things that people have a hard time doing when they are new is to get their face out into their area, especially on a tight budget. I have a list of 5 things that could be beneficial to new agents.

1. Become involved in the community through activities such as attending city council meetings, donating your time, etc. (can also include religious affiliations).

2. Drop business cards everywhere.  When you eat at a local establishment many times they have bulletin boards that you can post (with permission of course). Get to know the people that work there and at many establishments they will allow you to put a business card holder in there.

3. Hold a community event or barbeque.  During Easter time sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt in your neighborhood or one close by, for example.  You might be able to get the local paper to do a press release for free.

4. Use some direct marketing, such as door hangers and post cards that can be sent to your spheres of influence and people in your target areas.

5.  Get your picture on the Internet and make sure that you utilize all the meta tags that you possibly can.

It is very important for people to be able to trust you, and these things will help build your credibility in the community.   The more your face is out there the faster you can create a positive flow of referrals.

Also remember that one bad thing can negate all the positive things that you do.

Just remember the person that you are frustrated with (in the car, on the street, etc.) could be the one knocking at your office door to sell or buy a house that afternoon.

Matthew, I am new and these are all great ideas.  I do some of them and I am going to try the rest of them.  You are right about never knowing who is going to be knocking on your door.

Community activity is KEY. People need to associate you with something that establishes you as part of the neighborhood.

Here is another GREAT way that I am just starting to implement for FREE!  I designed this email newsletter from Publisher!  See the example of it below!  This is just saved in JPG format so the links don't work, but when people click to view the rest of the newsletter they are taken to my blog here at AR to the WINTERIZING YOUR HOME post that I just did recently!  Can you Believe this is FREE!  It just takes a little creativity

Another resource that people can utilize is their title companies.  In our area, they give out free templates for newsletters in addition to the farms that they provide.
