Everyday In Real Estate Is A Good Day.....Unless You Miss One!!!

No matter what the state of the real estate market may be, the flow of business is always structured the same.  It comes in spurts.  It’s unpredictable, and that’s why it’s so very important to not miss a beat.  The way we work today is the determining factor when it comes to the flow of new business in the future.

If we take a break in between transactions, expect there to be a void in your income in the future.    It’s very important to continue to work consistently, and it doesn’t matter what methods of prospecting   you use.  Use what works well for you.  If it’s working, use it.  If it’s not, change it.

Keep it simple.  Use more than one method of prospecting for new business, and make sure your methods of marketing are all integrated.  Every month I hear murmurs from an agent or two who announce that they have a deal or two, and they exhale.  It’s a relief.

Unfortunately, there is no exhaling in the real estate business.  Relief comes when you retire, and you no longer have to focus on where, when or how your next deal will surface.

Barbara T- a lesson in not resting on your laurels, right!  That's the thing about sales of any sort... you have to plug away every day!

So True! It is too easy for an agent to lose focus when they have a deal or two going on. I always try to continue my lead generating even when I am busy so that I don't get caught in a lull. Good post. Thanks for sharing.

Barbara, this is so true. You have to work at getting new business and take care of existing clients at the same time or you will find yourself with no clients.

Bill.....that's what causes the lull....

Ann....it's very concerning when you think about that...

Hi Val....we all need to take a break now and then....but when we miss a day, and we miss business, the next piece of business is another wait....isn't it???

Barbara, I have heard it often enough to know that prospecting and lead generating are vital for survival in our business. What we are doing Today totally affects our income tomorrow and next month.

Even when I was the hospital, I was keeping up with my business.  Being self-employed has its good and bad aspects.  I believe being my own boss far outweighs any negatives but it does mean working all of the time and with a purpose.

Hi Paula.....the only way one could get around this is to have a team member pinch hit....but there will still be steps missing.....

Barbara, how fortunate for your team that they have you to do all their marketing for them. I am a one-man show so it all falls to me. I don't market, I don't work.

Tammie.....I was a one woman show for 25 years.....I did it all too.....no secretary or assistant....there was one point where I had 45 new construction deals to handle at one time.....that was a banner year and I earned every penny of it....it's difficult but it's doable.

Now Barbara, I'll take exception with you here...you exhale not when you retire but when you are DEAD in this business...i don't want to see that on my horizon...

Hi Brenda....nice photo....

Ginny....don't exhale....just keep working to weather this storm....take several weeks off after putting together a deal or two and you'll need many months to crack it up again....

Hi Ed....as the market gets tougher, we need to do more to maintain that same level of production.....it's brutal...I'm in the office at 7:00am every morning and I'm working from home on the weekend....
