Trail of Terror Returns For 17th Annual ScareFest

Wallingford Trail of Terror 2011Are you easily frightened? Does your heart race when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings? Do you watch scary movies with one eye closed through a tiny gap between your fingers? If so, then you may want to avoid one of the area’s most “spook”-tacular attractions this October. Or at least bring a bunch of friends.

Beginning October 1st, Wallingford’s “Trail of Terror” returns once again for its 17th year of providing the best in Halloween chills and thrills to the scare-hungry masses. Just as he’s done since 1994, Wayne Barneschi brings his scare factory to life at its 60 North Plains Highway and promises that there will be many new additions to the already legendary line-up of ghosts, ghouls, devils and demons he’s assembled over the years, including Nightmare Clinic – NC:17 Central Valley Hospital (check out the NC:17 section of their web site by clicking the link). The event’s popularity grows every year, and this year they were again named as Connecticut’s Best Haunted Attraction by Connecticut Magazine.

Freddy Krueger is coming...In addition to the October 1st opening date, the Trail will be open for all four weekends in October as per the following schedule:

October 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28,& 29: Open 7 PM til 11 PM

October 9, 16, 23, & 30: Open 7 PM til 10 PM

Tickets are $10 for general admission and are available only at the Trail, or you can opt to purchase a Speed Pass for $20 which allows you to purchase a specific time slot to avoid waiting in the notoriously long lines that form fast each night. Speed Passes can be purchased by phone by calling 1-888-695-0888, or online by clicking this link

. Here are some other links to check out:

Freddy's here...Keep in mind that the Trail can sell out fast, sometimes as early as 8 PM, so if you’re planning to buy your ticket there you should plan on arriving early to avoid missing out. Once again this year, all proceeds will benefit the

Wallingford Emergency Shelter’s Family Center, as well as other local charities, so you’re not only having a screaming good time, you’re helping a worthy cause to boot. So, if you’ve never had the time (or the guts) to visit the Trail, make this the year you do it.

Oh, and Shotgun John says to make sure to bring a screamer with you…he LOVES screamers...

It's a blast, Bud & Beth! They get about 2,000 people a night thru the Trail, and all the money goes to charity. What's better than that?

They get about 2000 people a night, George. The wait in line can be 3-4 hours long. I'd say it's pretty popular!

Pat and Wayne --- ALL the kids in my area talk about this. My son's friend tried to go last Saturday night and he said the line was 3 hours long! It must be quite an adventure and worth it to draw such crowds. Thank you so much for mentioning the speed pass. I am going to pass that along. That is worth it to cut down the wait.

Hi Barb, the Speed Pass is the way to go, especially if you're pressed for time and want to reserve a particular time slot. Any way you slice it, the Trail is worth every penny! Thanks for dropping in!

Just bought a mug from a garage sale, had a logo on it  Trail of Terror Halloween 1994, I had never heard of it, so I looked you up on line.  Just want you to know it made it to Battle Creek, Michigan

Hi Marcia, that's awesome, that was the first year of the Trail! Does the mug say anything else on it, like a location? Can you post a picture of it here in the comments? I'd really like to see what it looks like!
