Last week I had the pleasure to show a David Webster George built home in University Hills, Irving Tx. Built in 1966 by this former student of Frank Lloyd Wright who work at the Taliesin and Taliesin West projects. These are legendary homes in Wisconsin and Arizona and the birthplace of organic architecture. Mr. George also worked with Wright on the Dallas Theater Center.
David Webster George describes his work as organic saying that it is Mr. Wright’s word. It means of the earth, of nature, of the site. Its form and function are compatible with nature. That style stayed with George throughout his work...
In an article in D Magazine...he says...I don’t like to use the word ‘green,’ but I’ve been trying to do passive solar, energy-efficient design, honoring the sun and the site. I’ve always behaved myself on trying to be energy-efficient, not being too imposing. Now everyone else is coming around to that.”
This is still today a beautiful, unique home in University Hills, Irving Tx. It is warm, inviting and spacious. The use of berms and landscaping enclose this house from prying eyes and outside traffic and lets nature in.. 3 bedroom and 3 full baths. This home has over 3000 square.
