A few days ago, fellow ActiveRain Photo Blogger, William Johnson revisited a nice photo he had captured and transitioned to art, while using http://photofunia.com.
The free on-line app provides a number of effects in their lab section which allows the user to transform images while accessing various artful effects. In William’s example at “Transitioning a Photograph to a Piece of Art,” he applied the “pencil drawing” effect. And then moved the image into another on-line application, at http://www.picnik.com, where he added a really nice frame.
William raised the possibility of using these techniques to create art pieces, clients could treasure in their homes as gifts – or to be used in personalizing note cards as a nice closing gift.
GREAT idea, William! While creating my edited photo rendition of a home that current clients have in escrow, I was thinking of having a box of printed note cards created, which on the inside would announce their New Home Address.
Using William's suggested techniques was not only easy, but provided really cool results!
This is a great idea, Myrl! I will have to try it out. Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful day.
Woo Hoo! Great job Myrl. And they say nothing in life is free but every once in a while, we can prove that theory wrong. The note cards will be so nice. One more tip. Before you save the unframed image for the note cards, be sure to go back into picnik, select more of a signature font and place it sort of diagonally at edge of the drawing. You can create the same sort of pencil effect by changing the font to something like Olho de boi and then using fade slider in Grey. Then place the your signature the way an artist would sign a print. Transmit the saved file ( as large a possible) to whom ever will print the note cards and you are ready to go.
Michael - It's not only fun to work with the applications, but can create a result that will aid real estate professionals in providing little products for our clients.
William - I need to try that with the fonts. I have never heard of "Olho de boi" and I've forgotten my French, so don't know if you are flirting with me or not. . .LOL
Myrl: What a great site, I have not heard of this one so thanks for the intro!
Tony and Darcy - I am increasingly delighted by some of the applications which are available via the web.
Jane - I hadn't heard of Photofunia until recently. Although I had dabbled around in Picnik for awhile.
Myrl, That is a very creative gift idea. Targeted and specific to the clients. Nice.
Thanks for sharing how you did this. I especially liked how you added a picture frame, how cleaver.
Myrl, what a neat idea. I like the note card idea and everything else, as well. Thanks for giving us a beautiful example. Have a great day!
That looks like a fun application. I've never used or heard of it before. I'll have to go check it out.
Now that is something soooooo cool! I need to check out that site and see some of my own pictures changed!
Myrl - I love Photofunia as well. We've been using it for years but their are so many sites out there like this all with slightly different apps available. This one is a great one. Sometimes we forget how many sites are out there. Thanks for the reminder. Will have to revisit it now...
Wayne - It often takes so little to create something more personalized for clients.
Tom - I tried to incorporate into the framing, a color that is predominent in certain areas of the home (red).
Jeanean - Your very welcome! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
John - It really was a fun activity. I have a number of photographs that I plan on working with when the rains come to Sacramento, and things slow down a little.
Chris - I think you will enjoy working with your pictures, while using this method.
Robert and Lisa - I had heard of Photofunia, but until William's post came along and demonstrated the "pencil drawing" effect, I hadn't really explored it myself.
I think YOU are flirting with William, Myrl. It's in your DNA isn't it? LOL. This is a great idea and very clever technique.
Myrl, I hadn't seen this before, but I think it's really a innovative idea. I can't wait to try it. Thank you William and Myrl. Hope it's a wonderful weekend for you. Weather here was a cool 70 degrees for us this morning.
That is very cool. I have never heard of them. Thanks for the heads up. I'll go check them out!
Hi Myrl~ Thanks for blogging about Williams discovery!
I checked it out and did a fun post using the photo enhancers on the site you suggested!
I see endless possibilities for creative posts with this one!...
Best regards from Seattle,
