Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Each fall my wife and I enjoy the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. If you’re a bird watcher or into photography it’s a must do. Bosque del Apache Refuge is recognized as one to the top birding areas in the U.S. In the fall the refuge is open from sunrise till sunset for all to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature. We enjoy watching and taking photos of the some 15,000 sandhill cranes, ducks, snow geese, Ross’ geese, pintails, shovelers, eagles and a huge host of other birds. You will find good hiking trails or bike or drive around pulling over to enjoy the birds and critters from observation decks. You will find mule deer, elk, coyotes, porcupines, turtles, turkey and roadrunners creeping around in the high grasses of Bosque del Apache Refuge. We have even spotted a lone wolf and Javelin along the waters edge looking for prey! This is a very cool experience so see you there!
