Things to Do, Places to Go in Alaska, Hunt Wildflowers!
In the spring, summer and fall, there are plenty of wildflowers to take pictures of or to pick and make a bouquet.
One of our favorite places for flowers is on what we call 'the Hay Flats.' It is on the Parks Highway just on the north side of Eklutna and there is a short pullout to park if you want to take pictures. Two weeks out of the year there are so many irises in this one spot, the field is just purple!
Other flowers you will see growing are wild roses, daisies, forget-me-nots, blue lupine, dwarf dogwoods, bell flowers, fireweed and wild iris to name some of the more readily seen ones.
