Worldwide Photo Walk
There is a Worldwide Photo Walk on October 1, 2011. Our region will be holding it at McConnells Mill (my favorite place to go) from 9am-12noon. Parking will be above the Grist Mill and above the Covered Bridge.
Bob Gerstel is in charge of it.
Hi Folks my name is Bob Gerstel and I’m a novice photographer, retired graphic designer, currently living in Harrison City Pa, about an hour and a half south of the park. I’ve only been to the area twice and have never taken the time or had the right equipment with me to do any serious photography. It’s a perfect place and perfect time of the year to return and hopefully capture some special shots. McConnells Mill State Park is a 2546 acre Pennsylvania state park in Perry and Slippery Rock Townships, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park features a deep scenic gorge with the restored watermill and a covered bridge at the bottom, accessible by a roadway that winds between large, room-sized boulders on the hillside. McConnells Mill State Park is along the Slippery Rock Creek. Be prepared, this isn’t an easy area to get to and is a pretty good hike from the parking area down to the covered bridge and old mill but the scenes are worth the hike. The Mill offers tours on the weekends until labor day to see the inside workings of the mill, however it will be closed for the tour when we gather for the walk. If the timings wright and the leaves are changing this should provide some really nice photo ops. Feel free to contact me at any time with questions and check back here often for any updates. If Saturday turns out to be a terrible day we’ll shoot for Sunday.
McConnells Mill is a very beautiful place. To register for the Photo Walk please go to http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/mcconnells-mill-state-park/ and register.
I should be there. I have been going there for 20 years and know the trails well.
