So you are ready to buy a Livingston County lake front home and you have been looking at homes that are not on the chain of lakes. There are multiple types of boats out there. Most of the boats manufactured now have the abilities to raise and lower the motors.
But there are some ski boats like Malibu and others that have the propeller underneath the boat. So lake depth in front of the Livingston County lake front home or depth of the canal may be important to you.
The lake front home is no good to you if you can not take your boat in and out easily. There are some Livingston County lake canals that you can not get a ski boat like that down. You would have to have a boat that the motor could go up and down.
So how do you find out if the canal or the lakefront is right for you. You need to get in the water and walk it. Or you need to take a boat ride.
I recommend the boat ride. I heard a story once about a canal front home buyer that bought a house only to find out later that they couldn’t get their boat under a bridge. It was too tall. So they had to buy a different boat!
It would have been simpler to find that out before they bought the house. So if you are buying a Livingston County lake front home or canal front home be sure to check out the water depth.
