Magical Evening Of Giving Update:
Jane McDonald- President-Elect/Event Chair
Ticket Sales- Goal 250 guests- Pam Dunn encouraged us to keep moving those tickets
Silent Auction- Wayne Silzel- we will be stuffing the Mystery Bags at the event site following
lunch at 12 noon- Tom Grundy says we will have 120 bags and each bag will have $50-60
worth of goodies. The bags will cost $25 and this year we will get the information from
each purchaser and deliver the bag to their table.
Pam Dunn thanked the Coffee Grove for donating #10 $25 gift certificates
the Flowery for donating # 4 $25 gift certificates
Scraps for donating # 3 $10 gift certificates
Despite the bad economy some of our local vendors have been very generous.
Tom Grundy encouraged us to "support those people who supported us."
Magician- Jane informed us that Jill Kuli is underwriting the cost of the magician
this included #3 invitations to the Magic Castle- Thank you Jill and Dennis Kuli.
Jane thanked everyone for the effort they have put into making the fundraiser a success.
Happy Bucks:
Steven Pollack is feeling better and will be spending the weekend in Catalina for Buccaneer Days.
Ron Accornero spent two weeks traveling in France. He visited Paris, Cannes, Avignon and
found it was easy to get around Paris on the Metro. He was abit put off when he exchanged
US dollars for Euros. 1 Euro = $1.55.
Will Warren thanked Steven Pollack for lending him his road bike. Will is training to ride
in the BikeMS fundraiser and needs to raise $300 to participate. The event ride goes from
from Irvine to Mission Bay.
Jay Applebaum was happy to sponsor our three new members Bob Meyer, Ken Caplin & Mike
Brunhober.
Eric Sense attended a Chiropractic Meeting in Phoenix and had a nice get together with some
of his ATF buddies. One who wrote a book about the Hells Angels entitled, "No Angel"
filled Eric in on the stories that didn't make it into the book.
Pam Dunn- today is Maureen Dunn's 30th birthday.
Tom Grundy was happy that Tony LaRussa and the St Louis Cardinals are in the playoffs for the
World Series.
Mike Brunhober did a presentation at the Surf City Rotary about his Polio Inoculation trips
to Caborca, Mexico. Not only do they do inoculations, but they have set up a fund
to help children who need medical care. Surf City Rotary typically donates $500-$1000
to this Children's Medical Fund. Mike announced that this year's trip to Caborca will
be from Feb 10th-12th. Caborca is about 90 miles south of the border. The trip cost
is $220 per person. The bus holds 50 people and stops to pick up other participating
Rotarians along the way. Ken Caplin added that the bus is loaded with candy and
gifts that is donated and given to the children in Caborca.
Bob Meyer reminded us he was the first speaker we had when the club held its first meeting.

Mr Serrao drew parallels between Sampson and the United States.
