For your viewing entertainment.

My step-son, Nathan Navarro, is a bass prodigy. He attends Berklee School of Music in Boston but is taking a semester off to pursue some  musical opportunities this fall. For example - he collaborated with three other musicians to produce several songs. Nothing unusual about that except that the guitar player lives in Brazil, the drummer in Venezuela, the female vocalist is in Boston and Nathan's in California. I don't know that they have ever actually played together but the end result s as smooth and polished as if they were all in the studio doing multiple takes.

He also composes and scores music and if you haven't seen what you can do on a simple Apple notebook these days, you'll be as amazed as I was. He can compose an entire orchestral symphony or rock opera with full instrumentation and I defy you to tell the difference between these compositions and a live band - except the band makes mistakes, drops their drumsticks and occasionally farts. The iMac version does not.

He just posted a video on YouTube a couple days ago. In the last 48 hours the thing has gone viral racking up 50,250 hits in a little over 48 hours. This band (not the long distance one) is called Pinn Panelle and they are doing a cover of a tune called 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' by Skrillex. What is unusual about this cut is that it is a live dubstep cover of what had previously only been an electronic track that most folks thought could not be duplicated live. These guys do.

Dubstep? Hot hand? Skrillex? I don't know what the heck any of this is but even for an old Dead Head like myself, this is pretty amazing. Enjoy.
