Break Out the Lederhosen! It's Oktoberfest Time Again! | Southlake TX | Southlake Town Square

lederhosen guysBreak out the Lederhosen boys!  Ah, yes, it’s that time of the year again, Oktoberfest is celebrated in Munich, Germany, home of the original Oktoberfest dating back to 1810.  What could be more enjoyable than a 16-18 day Beer Festival.  Not much I would say.

Oktoberfest is one of the most famous events in Germany and is the world’s largest fair.  Oktoberfest was originally started as royal event to celebrate the marriage of soon to be King Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.  Boy, that was a tongue twister.

Since the original event, it has spread throughout cities around the world and most local celebrations are reduced to a 3-4 day event.

Well, now your in luck, because the City of Southlake inOktoberfest cooperation with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 10th Annual Oktoberfest at Southlake Town Square, September 30th – October 2nd, 2011

This year will mark the 10th annual Oktoberfest celebration hosted by Southlake's Chamber of Commerce! Nearly 50,000 people visit throughout the weekend festival! Attendance is completely free -- there are no admission nor parking fees. There will, however, be a wide range of food, beverages, and booth items available for sale!

Come take a stroll in Southlake's beautiful Town Square while looking at the unique, handcrafted arts and crafts booths.  There will fun for all ages, the kids will have a great time in the excitement-packed children's area!  There will great food,  drinks, and of course the infamous Weiner dog Races, don't forget to sign up your dog to participate in the popular wiener dog races!

We can't forget to mention that we will be having a number of great bands that you won’t want to miss!  With the likes of some of my favorite local bands, LeFreak, Escape, and Professor D.

Join us at this year's Oktoberfest, where a good time is awaiting all!  But you will have to of course fit in our Heritage Fall Festival on Saturday from 1-5pm before you partake in the fun in Southlake.

Here is a video from last years Oktoberfest!.

Good Morning Dorie, thank you and us Czechs enjoy our beer too!  Love me some Shiner Bock!  My Dad and I were in Munich back in '90 and they do have some big pints there.

Hi John, Congratulations on your 100,000 milestone. They say the first 100,000 point mark is the hardest. As well are all the ones that follow IMHO, LOL.

Hi Ms. East Side, what up?  thank you, it was a fun post to write, especially when you enjoy the topic.  Because we have our Fall Festival tomorrow and I'm working at the Haunted House tomorrow night, looks like Sunday will have to be the day.

HI William, thank you for the congrats, I really appreciate it.   Yes, this first 100k was a doozy, but well worth the time and effort I think.  I guess I'm tired, what is IMHO?  Thanks again.

Hi Jerry, Germany is a prett country indeed, and my dad and i were there in July back in 1990 and were in Munich, even though it was a few months before Oktoberfest it sure was hopping anyway, I still remember those HUGE Steins.  Thank you as well on the congrats, congrats to you for pursuing your broker license.  And I didn't know that about Barbara's blog, had not had a chance to visit it yet tonight.  thanks again.
