Break Out the Lederhosen! It's Oktoberfest Time Again! | Southlake TX | Southlake Town Square
Break out the Lederhosen boys! Ah, yes, it’s that time of the year again, Oktoberfest is celebrated in Munich, Germany, home of the original Oktoberfest dating back to 1810. What could be more enjoyable than a 16-18 day Beer Festival. Not much I would say.
Oktoberfest is one of the most famous events in Germany and is the world’s largest fair. Oktoberfest was originally started as royal event to celebrate the marriage of soon to be King Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Boy, that was a tongue twister.
Since the original event, it has spread throughout cities around the world and most local celebrations are reduced to a 3-4 day event.
Well, now your in luck, because the City of Southlake in cooperation with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 10th Annual Oktoberfest at Southlake Town Square, September 30th – October 2nd, 2011
This year will mark the 10th annual Oktoberfest celebration hosted by Southlake's Chamber of Commerce! Nearly 50,000 people visit throughout the weekend festival! Attendance is completely free -- there are no admission nor parking fees. There will, however, be a wide range of food, beverages, and booth items available for sale!
Come take a stroll in Southlake's beautiful Town Square while looking at the unique, handcrafted arts and crafts booths. There will fun for all ages, the kids will have a great time in the excitement-packed children's area! There will great food, drinks, and of course the infamous Weiner dog Races, don't forget to sign up your dog to participate in the popular wiener dog races!
We can't forget to mention that we will be having a number of great bands that you won’t want to miss! With the likes of some of my favorite local bands, LeFreak, Escape, and Professor D.
Join us at this year's Oktoberfest, where a good time is awaiting all! But you will have to of course fit in our Heritage Fall Festival on Saturday from 1-5pm before you partake in the fun in Southlake.
Here is a video from last years Oktoberfest!.
