Ahh, it's officially Fall, tomorrow is the first day of October and that means one important thing to sports fans- NCAA football, NFL football and Major League baseball playoffs are all on tap this weekend! These are some of a fan's best times as your local school and pro team could be on tv back-to-back. I realize San Diegans that in this beautiful weather we always have it is difficult for me to advocate spending a perfect afternoon in a sports bar or restaurant, but to some it is a priority. While there are several excellent places to go in San Diego County, I wish to simply discuss a few right in my own neighborhood that offer great viewing, a mixed crowd and quality food and drink.
1) Redfield's (located inside the Manchester Grand Hyatt) Harbor Drive. 4-5 star hotel, beautiful inside with multiple tv's and viewing areas. Great, customer service oriented staff, great bar food (try the prime rib sliders and don't miss the awesome Sunday buffet breakfast) and selection of wine and beer. Some locals go regularly but usually the crowd is conventioneers from all over cheering their teams.
2) Fox Sports Grill (located inside the Bayfront Hilton next to the convention center). Another beautiful hotel with indoor/outdoor seating, multiple tv's and Coronado Bay views. Enticing food (the burgers are excellent) and a great staff. The crowd will mirror that of Redfield's- mainly conventioneers.
3)PFC Grill (located inside the Embassy Suites) Pacific Highway and Harbor Drive. A smaller place than the others but since it's located closer to the condos and highrises in the Marina District it attracts more local fans. Good food and great specials, also.
