Last season I actually counseled a couple to lease instead of buy. They were not sure if this was the area for them. They did not know if they would like the neighborhood or the golf course. So I encouraged them to lease for a few months to discover if this was the place they wanted to be.
I made sure they had all the information they needed about the neighborhood and the community-- dining, events, hiking, churches, schools, recreation. They did their research.
Throughout the summer months I kept in touch with them and sent them lease listings as well as the best deals for sale. A few days ago they called and said they would be here for few days and wanted to see certain listings-- only one was a lease!
The timing was perfect-- a wonderful home completely remodeled with a saltwater pool and designer kitchen just came on the market. We visited the home twice the last 2 days and are writing an offer to purchase!
Moral of the story: Don't discount the seasonal renters... they are next season's serious buyer!
