Just another local real estate scam that is getting lots of attention, particularly from the Attorney General in Maryland AND Virginia.  Essentially the accusation goes something like this:  Metro Dream Homes convinced people to buy in to their investment program (about 10%-15% of the value of their home) and MDH would "invest" that money and pay the mortgage on the property in full.  They claimed to be able to pay the mortgage off in 5-7 years so that people could buy MUCH bigger houses than they could really afford.  Rumor has it that they also had some sort of car-buying scheme along the same lines.

It sounds an awful lot like a Ponzi scheme to me!  The Attorney General of MD as well as VA has now shut them down and it seems those mortgages are no longer being paid!  There is rumored to be almost 1,000 homes in the local area (53 in one subdivision!) involved, and the owners are now left holding a mortgage they can't afford because the company can't operate without new people joining the program!  I've included a link to a pretty good message board about it, there's a lot of really concerned people trying to figure out what to do and who to blame.  It's a very sad situation that hopefully a resolution can be found quickly!
