We should all be thinking about our next sale or next listing.  All local communities are in the same financial situation, and there are many good avenues to travel locally to find new business.

School is now in session and what better way to promote you than by helping the schools.  I have purchased pencils for the kids to use.  I always ordered enough pencils with my name and telephone number to supply an entire building of kids in elementary school.

Another great way to keep you in the public eye is to sponsor local sport teams for the kids.  I sponsor girls’ ice hockey and boys’ ice hockey teams.  I’ve been doing it for years and have a wall of plaques from those teams personalized for me and my team.  It’s something meaningful, and my team and I are very proud to display those plaques.

There are many ways to promote yourself and help the families in the town with your contribution.  Sponsorships today are always welcomed.  Money is tight for all families with children, and what better way to show that you care about the well-being of their children than to sponsor a sport so their children have the opportunity to participate.

Giving a scholarship is another way of participating in promoting education in your town.  My scholarship is given to a female student who is college bound and plays in either hockey or softball.  I’ve been doing that for years, and one of my team members is at the graduation every year to present the scholarship to the student.

Staying in front of the residents of the community by sponsoring and donating money is a great way for town people to remember you when they know of a real estate situation.  My team members and I have received referrals from teachers, coaches and directors of extra-curricular activities within the school.  It’s been a good source of business for us.  You may want to investigate how you can participate locally.  The time is right and the towns need it.

I too, have been working on name branding. It's a way I give back to the community. I cant wait to do them again.

Those are wonderful ideas.  I had been thinking of sponsoring a local sports team - soccer is big here.  We do donate to our local school but fail to publicize this fact given that our motive for those donations is purely to help.

Mark....when you sponsor or donate or give a scholarship, your name is on it....the event is publicized.....I get plenty of mileage from sponsorships....I advertise in the football program every year....full page....my team gets announced as a sponsor at half time at every home game.....the organization will do all the publicizing....it works well....

Great suggestions Barbara. My personal favorite is an advertisement in a program for the various school's performing arts programs.

Hi Barbara, being involved in our communities is so rewarding.  I have been involved in many local school supply drives bur never thought to brand the items I donated.  Thank you for these great ideas.

Hi Barbara.    Sponsorship in activities is a great idea.   Not only does it help monetarily it promotes a sense of good will.   One can always volunteer to help too.
