the moon

As I stand on the balcony I see the faint light of something off in the distance.

It is barely visible to my eye, yet it exists and it is there... It HAS to be! My camera caught it!

Moon above Michigan - Bigelow

An early twilight moon barely transparent in the sky. It tells us so much... if we are willing to see....

It is lit by the sun....

Without the sun there would be no moon.

It is lit by the earth.....

Without the earth we would see no moon....no sun....

My camera does not do justice to what I was witness to...

Let me set the stage...

Twilight.... early evening....sun setting on the bay... the moon barely visible-- transparent would be my words.

I asked myself the same question I will ask of you...

What is barely visible in your life....what is on the horizon that is so transparent you are not seeing it?

Have a conversation with yourself and find out....

    what it is...

           you truly....

                       can do....

Who can REALLY see you... for who you are...

What are your talents? What do you do best? Like the moon transparent above the Michigan bay, you will draw those to you who can see you for what you are!

To Your Success!

Ma

Beauty!  where else can we witness, from far away, in one moment--something witnessed by someone we may never meet...

but here

Hi Mary,  I think about this all of the time.  What are the small details that I'm missing?

BTW, I saw the moon in the middle of the day today...and I got a great photo the other night.

Stephanie - THANK YOU! I hope to reach out to so many! You and I WILL meet someday...you have a HUGE hug coming from me!~

Funny -- the moon was barely visible by eye but the camera showed it up so well...

Thus my question...   What is barely visible in your life?

THANK YOU for your comments and fellowship! You go girl!

I'm fascinated by the moon.  I could stare at it for hours when there is a full moon.  Such a neat thing.  Glad someone else pays attention to it.

Loretta - Thank you...you are so right. I am so jealous many times of the views I see from Florida...maybe it is just because not so many from my state have shared our fabulous views! They are here, sometimes you need to squint to see them!!! but what beauty!

10/28/2007 09:21 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

Stephanie - details are...you could almost not make it out with the naked eye. You say...

I saw the moon in the middle of the day today ... I saw it here today also at what must have been 10am! very unusual! Doesn't that just seem strange?

It makes me think there are OTHER things in our lives we are missing...if we can miss the moon....

ps...beautiful pix! thank you!

Jason - What a beautiful thing!                                                                                                                                                          It is amazing how much the moon can light our way! I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it.....here's another view for you! Moon over Michigan

Hey Mary,  I just posted about something similar.  As far as life in general...well, I'm probably missing lots of things.  :)  I almost feel like I'm burning the candle at both ends.

Mary, you are a very clever woman - and good with a camera.

Mary..what lovely thoughts.I pretty much go where my heart leads me!

Mary- There is so much on the horizon of my life, so much good and yes trials; for without them, I would become complacent. I am going to be grandmother in the next 2 months, that is new, my first grandchild on the horizon. I have lots of new business coming my way and I know this market we are in Florida- will pass! Katerina

10/29/2007 12:46 AM by Nestor & Katerina Gasset, Realtors® Wellington Florida Luxury Homes (International Properties and Investments, Inc.)

Katerina-Congrats on becoming a grandmother soon! How sweet that is! Do they live close to you? Yes, the markets are quite challenging. I am on the same page as you -- they will pass! One of the things I like about the hi performance home industry is that it is growing. People are tired of literally throwing money out the window and are ready for change. It is the one segment of the market that is moving.

Katrina - WOW! You are an inspiration! Obviously, you have many talents to hold together a big family like that! You must be so proud! Bless you for being there for your daughter. She is one lucky girl to have a supportive mother like YOU!!! All my best for the baby!

Hi Mary,  What an absolutely gorgeous photo of the moon...it really just makes you take a moment and "breath" doesn't it??  The other evening....(very early evening...not really dark yet) my son and I were leaving our home and driving down the street then saw the most amazing Harvest Moon!  It was simply breath taking, HUGE and almost red, we actually stopped the car to see it better.

At the end of each day I like to take a moment and think of that one special experience that gave me joy.  On this day it was definitely the moon.

Please know I will definitely be giving your question below some thought.....

"What is barely visible in your life....what is on the horizon that is so transparent you are not seeing it"?

All the Best,

Mary, beautiful. We have been getting some of the best moon shots here in West Michigan. Love it!

Excellent thought provoking questions Mary...if we don't ask them, we probably won't get the answers.  Thanks for sharing some wise insights.

Therese - Thank you for your comment! The evening I snapped the photo was like what you describe -- except the moon wasn't red! It was very early and very hard to see. I like to think there are things in our life the same way. At times we really need to remove the blinders, squint, and look for it...but it is there! Enjoy pondering the questions I pose! I hope you come up with some great new revelation! (ps...love your name! It is my middle name!)

Duane! We have had great sun throughout this past summer and the moons have been tremendous! I LOVE our little place in the world! Thanks for the comments!

Hi Lola! Insights are leading my way these days! So many new friends and opportunities have come before me since the first of the year. So many days I just sit back and try to connect dots (I used to LOVE that game!) and put together all the people and scenarios I have been introduced to. I believe there are a million opportunities out there. We need to open our minds and our hearts. Some may be transparent and we see through them. I like to step back, ponder, take another look and see what it is I am missing. The moon that evening was a perfect example. I was shocked at how well it showed up on the camera! It was barely visible with the naked eye! Thanks!

Mary,  I took this photo at 10 in the morning...and thought about you.  :)  It is the spot right above the trees, much bigger and brighter in person.

Mary~

Stephanie mentioned in a comment above that she thinks about 'small details" and asks herself what she is missing. Her photo immediately above proves that point. ..possibly an important lesson for real estate professionals ...especially as it pertains to "green" living and how it relates to us as professionals.

Stephanie - How COOL! I see it! The moon is just amazing these days and I am so GLAD we are all out there looking for the weird and unusual! Knowing how to put those "weird and unusual" deals together is going to be key! Thanks for the photo!

10/30/2007 10:55 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

JaneAnne - Thank you for the Moon Blessings! I think you and Stephanie are both correct -- we all need to ask ourselves "what are we missing." It is so easy to go day to day in our careers and not put the pieces together. It is REMARKABLE to work with people who get it! My AR ECO All Star buddies are ALL included in that group! Thank you!

10/30/2007 10:58 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

Stephanie - I was just re-reading comments again. I find it interesting that "my moon" was barely transparent yet showed up on the camera so well and yours was so bright yet hard to see on the camera. Do you think it is the point of view I was eluding to in this post? Sometimes we see things right in front of our face...other times we hit the wall?

10/30/2007 11:15 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

I love the sunsets -- I love the moon -- it is magical indeed!  It summons up all sorts of emotions -- and lots of songs have been inspired by the moon!  Moon River, Blue Moon, by the light of the silvery moon -- Moon light and evening hikes are so very special -- hayrides in the moon light bring back wonderful memories... The Harvest Moon is exceptional!

10/30/2007 11:36 PM by Joan Whitebook, ABR, e-Pro, CEBA (Buyer's Option Realty Services)

Joan - thanks for your comments! I think I have played all the tunes you mentioned on the piano --- it was basic study and they are some of my favorites! I would like to hear more about your hayrides! How fun! we have a few places near us that still do that! We are in apple country!

The Harvest Moon IS exceptional! I have recently been fascinated by the moon when it appears -- or sticks around -- when you don't expect it! Thanks!

A lovely thoughtful and thought provoking post Mary! There is so much we can learn from nature, in learning to become 'one' with it. On my daily walks it is rare for me to come away without some inspiration about which I then write.

Luuvv it!

12/07/2007 05:52 PM by Deborah Pearce - Living Spaces - Kelowna Home Staging & Interior Design (Living Spaces Interiors & Home Staging)

Thanks Deborah! You live in a beautiful place! I had the good fortune to visit the island of Victoria in July with my daughter who competed at the World BMX Championships. We were very impressed with the beauty and the public transportation that we made our way around on (after we got the hang of the schedule! ) The first day was a little bit hairy to say the least!

Thanks for the comment of my post. Feel free to post a picture of what the moon looks like from your side of the continent! I hope I brought beautiful, productive thoughts to you with my musings!

12/07/2007 05:57 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

Victoria is a beautiful city, Mary. However I travel more to WA state than to our own coast.

And yes your musings are much appreciated - there is so much need for conscious thought. You know the saying - if we always do what we always did, we will always get what we always got. We have to change our minds. Life depends on it more than ever.

Being Conscious is the only way we can truly live.  So many of the things that go wrong in our country, on our planet happen because of unconsciousness.  Thanks for the post.

Thanks Deborah -- you, also, know the definition of insanity, don't you! The 3 hour ferry trip I took from BC to Seattle was gorgeous. I took some great photos!

12/07/2007 06:36 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

David - you are welcome~ I never looked at it in the way you describe - unconsciousness - but you are correct! We need to open our eyes and be aware of what is in front of us. No more fighting it or dismissing it. Let's all embrace what is being offered and make it all better! No more bandaids! Great comment!

12/07/2007 06:39 PM by Mary Bigelow, Renewing Your Life! (GreenLife Homes/ Contractor's Building Supply)

It is a lovely ferry trip Mary. I always enjoy the summer crossings. One of my favorite places to visit is David's seaside town of Bellingham - been there many times and ferried around quite a lot also.

Kudos David on your comment!
