Cathedral City's adds Thousand Palms to Sphere of Influence 
The Desert Sun reports that after a few years of negotiating, Cathedral City has finally won its request to add parts of Thousand Palms to its sphere of influence.
On Thursday, the Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission approved the request, 5-0. The addition for Cathedral City will add 5200 inhabited acres east of Rio del Sol Road adjacent to 4100 acres added to Cathedral City's sphere earlier this year. Adding to a city's sphere of influence is often the first step a city will take if they are wishing to annex a boundary outside of its exisiting legal boundary.
Thousand Palms is an unincorporated community of about 7000 residents located on the north side of Interstate 10. Home sales in Thousand Palms start in the low $100,000's.
