Remodeling your basement? Consider a Solatube!

We gutted our basement a few years ago, and turned what used to be a cold, dark, rather unpleasant space into a lovely master suite with walk-in closet, a 2nd living room, and a home office. For the master bath, we had one "minor" concern, which was that there was absolutely no way to get natural light, as the entire room was sub-terranean, and the configuration wouldn't allow for us to dig a window well and put in a small window.

Enter the Solatube! My partner found this tricky gizmo online, and it saved the day. To boot, in the grand scheme of the remodeling expenses, it was cheap! If you or any of your clients are ever considering transforming a basement, this is a great thing to have in your toolbox. I even made a goofy video about it, in which for some reason the sound and the picture aren't even synched up, but you get the idea.

FYI I'm not affiliated with anyone at Solatube, in fact I don't even know where they come from. . . but I like 'em!!

When you do renovation to the smelly basement and dump place you won't belive what you can do with it. I have done renovation to few of my Homes's basement and I am very happy with the result. Great post.

Solatube are really the perfect lighting soluation for many places in your home. I am a real estate agent in the Bay Area. I practice out of San Ramon.  I hav eseen these in many client's homes. The local company that I have worked with is based out of Pleasanton. My clients have been happy with their work. I recommend them for dark hallways, Kitchens, and have even had a client put them in a garage he wanted to use as a workspace.  I understand that these can be run through mult levels as well, but you do have to give up some closet space or a corner, etc..

If you are tyring to sell a home, dont let a dark basement or dark hallway give the buy ammunition. A Solatube is an affordable way to make a home look more appealing and inviting.
