We had ours here around a month ago- It was totally the Coolest - They pick the most hip places to have their events!!!  Ours was the new Aura promo for Architects and Interior Designers - I just LOVE the the new colors, and isn't Mary the best.  She's my old rep. here in Chicago, that has gone on to be so much more. 

Juliana ~ Ours was just recently, but I was unable to attend.  I am trying to get them to come speak to a local group of a national membership that we started here on Long Island.  I think it's great that they go around doing these talks, we get the upcoming trends and information first-hand.  I wish there were more of them from other companies.

Kate, Would that be the HUE awards? That certainly would be something to aspire to! I have seen past design winners in publications, and the work is amazing.

Julianna - This sounds great. I would like to know how do you get involved with Benjamin Moore and become a color consultant? I have been trying to find out online on their site but no luck. I am very interested in pursuing this, any information you have would be so appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rhonda, Benjamin Moore works with consultants and designers -- offering forums, like this one. They also offer products; color tools, to the trade magazines, etc. You can all find that information on their website. (It's a brand new website --- anyone else notice?)

They DO have a program that promotes consultants in Canada! ....Oh Canada!

If you would like to become a color consultant, there is other training available. I trained with the Dewey Color System, and now I offer training with their system. They have trainers nationwide, the Dewey Color System Certification Course is meant to compliment a background and current business in interior design/decor. Of course there is design education through colleges and universities as well.

You might try and do a search on other color training programs, as more and more are springing up all the time --- color is HOT HOT HOT ;-) I looked at training with a few, like Devine Paints, I loved hearing Gretchen speak at our IRIS conference in Seattle, but in the end I decided I wanted a certification that was universal with all paint lines, and I love the color psychology componant that Dewey Sadka has worked years and years to test and legitimize.

If you have a passion for color, I encourage you to seek that path! The best stagers, interior redesigners, designers and decorators are color savvy, and continue learning, experiencing, growing and refining their designers' eye ...always creating a great design.

Rhonda - Just check with your local BM deal and they can order you all the paint colors and cases, etc - free.  I just talked to ours and gave him my business cards - it is good advertising for them.

You can sign up on the web site for paint chip samples to be shipped directly to you and your clients as well and replacements in case you give the samples out of your kit (I don't).

Hi Julianna!  I just got back from Orleans on the Cape where our Ben Moore Color Style Event was held!  Love the colors, accessories, and goodies shared by the wonderful Ben Moore reps:  Fran Mooney & Marion Beaulieu!   I had to drive home through a northeaster but it was worth every rain drop (smile)!  Thank you for sharing Julianna!

Julianna ~ Above I stated that I was unable to attend this presentation when it was in my area, but Wednesday evening we had a meeting of one of my memberships and I was able to get the rep for our area to come and do a shortened version of the forum.  I loved the colors they had for the displays and while the Aura paint sounds great (self-priming, Low VOC, dries in an hour, two coat max), the price will probably be a little high for some.  It was a very informative forum though and I hope I can make the next one to get the full benefit.

Hi Kathy, how awesome of you to arrange the Ben Moore rep for your membership. The displays are quite fun aren't they? I would say that I get that feedback from a few clients about the price point. THey really need to see it somewhere to be sold on the whole idea. Some people just think paint is paint! No, there is a difference! Thank you for dropping by again!

This is great! I love Ben Moore paint and their colors.  My husband is a custom home builder, and of course I am a home stager and interior re-designer, and my Ben Moore fan deck and chest of color chips are always the first I reach for when doing a paint consult.  I am going to stop by our local Ben Moore store - Lord and Evans - today and ask about this.
