Our team @ Domaine Real Estate is set up with some agents (me included) being buyers specialist and the rest being predominantly listing agents.   I'm wondering what the ratio is out there of buyer specialists or listing specialists v.s. those that do both.   I do feel that by just working with buyers I can offer more of myself to my buyers as I am not being spread as thin.   How do others feel about this trend of thinking?

Here in Sonoma County most agents handle both types of transactions.   I think that our team is unique in offering the specialist idea but I may be wrong and would love feedback.

Those of you that are buyer or seller specialist, do you like handling your business in this manner?

Would love to hear comments.

Hmm. In our office everyone does both. How has it been working for you?

Hi Danielle and thank you for your comment.

In response to your response at first the thought of handling just buyers was a bit worrisome to me but now that we have been doing it this way for some time it's working well for me.   And in this current market that we are in here in CA I don't mind at all not having the financial burden of carrying listings that are stagnating.   I have more time to spend on prospecting my sphere for leads.   Our team has a pretty nice website that has been set up to drive large numbers of buyers to it which the buyers agents reap the benefits of.

Most weekends we (the buyer agents) have several open house options to host if we wish.    I feel that by working more with buyers I am actually becoming a better listing agent for the future.   How is that you may ask?   Well, spending the time on the buyers side you realize what is missing from certain listing agents listing packages that make those listing harder to draw in activity.   I think to be a productive  lisiting agent one has to think like a buyer and the more experience an agent has working with buyers that better that agent is going to be able to think like a buyer.

So far so good, & not complaining.    I know that in most of the industry agents do tend to work both sides and thought it would be interesting to find out of the ones on AR what % more or less specialize themselves.
