10 Comments on October is Fire Safety Month
Hi Dorie-always a good list to keep somewhere handy. It is really a simple thing to stay a lot safer.
I am re-blogging this Dorie...fire safety is something everyone needs to be more conscious of...indoors and out !
Such a great list and a wonderful reminder about going through our fire safety checklists. Suggested.
Dorie, Terrific reminder and great 10 step list to help prevent this from ever happening and to reduce the risk!
Dorie.....Great information and stats I wasn't aware of.......Thanks!
Have a Great Day!
Go VOLS!
Good morning, Dorie. As a side, it is interesting how many inoperable smoke detectors I find during inspections...
Dorie - thanks for such a comprehensive fire safety list. I did not know #5 and #8 and will take heed! A home fire in one of my biggest fears and I'm always checking the batteries in my smoke detectors (which are in every room!)

These are some excellent tips to prevent fires which can be devasting.
Dorie, this is SO important. My parents lost a vacation home to a fire, just before they moved everything in, but RIGHT AFTER IT WAS BUILT. It was the electrician's fault, but still...a fire is a fire and so scary.
In our community at Fishhawk Lake, we are an accredited "firewise community" and I'm part of the committee for it. Bi-annually, many of us volunteer on a designated weekend and clean up around the outside of our homes in this area, removing hazardous debris (tree limbs, dead trees, weeds that can go up in flames easily, etc.) which is part of keeping our status as a firewise community since we live near forestland, tucked in the coastal range and forest fires could easily destroy our lovely slice of paradise. We just completed this in October--and I didn't know it was Fire Safety Month, too!
