Thanks for the post Rick.  Solar can be an investment, but one that pays dividends quickly.  If you're spending money on electric anyway it's math worth doing. In fact, the rebates that are out (the program seems to change a bit every year) give generous tax credits and rebates for installing or enhancing a solar power system. Too bad the power company won't buy the surplus.  Still you can generate a pretty healthy credit off season and crank out the old A/C during summer to cash in on your 'dividend.'
