This has nothing to do with the DaVinci Code or Leonardo, in case you were looking for information on the Vatican's recently released documents about the Templar trials. This is about the new software beta from a la mode, maker of WinTotal.
I think a la mode is on to something with this software. I've downloaded it from their lab, and have been very pleased with the way the software is progressing. The software is designed to be used on a tablet computer for field inspections. So far the software is very customizable, comes packaged with sketching software that integrates with the bluetooth Disto. You can change the fields you want to show in each section, change the order of the fields, decide to include notes on the sketch...what? That's right, you can put your notes right on the sketch specific to each room. I think this is similar to how Apex's Nexus works, but the notes in DaVinci go right back into the form.
I haven't used it for an actual inspection, my convertible tablet is just too heavy to carry around, but I have used it around the house and it works fairly well. It is a beta, so they are constantly adding features and want lots of feedback.
If you haven't seen this program, I highly recommend taking a look at.
I will take a look when I'm on a computer that won't blow smoke from downloading one more thing onto her (poor old girl) - I've been spending more time backing stuff up in preparation for her demise.
