"Late Crabbing Season Re-Opens!" - Life on the Kitsap Peninsula

The Washington Dept. of Fish & Wildlife recently announced that 5 areas of the Puget Sound will reopen to recreational crab fishing.

This is welcome news to those of us here in Kitsap County who drop our crab pots out on Hood Canal. This past couple of Summer seasons have been rather disappointing, to say the least. So this reopening affords us a few more opportunities to feed our freezers!

Starting at sunrise November 1st, Marine Area 6 (eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca), Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet), Area 10 (Seattle/Bremerton), Area 11 (Tacoma/Vashon), and Area 12 (Hood Canal) will all reopen for sport crabbing.

Unlike the normal Summer season, this Late Season opening will allow crab fishing all 7 days of the week. All other size and daily catch limits apply. This Late Season will extend through January 2, 2008.

Yummy info for those who are interested in moving to your area. We love crab - we're moving to your neck of the woods! :)

Lisa & Bob - there's a house on the market right next door to us. I'm sure I could get you a great deal!

Rich, how much dough would I have to ship your way to have you ship a crab my way? I don't believe that I have ever had a fresh crab. Now, don't mock me, but the only crab I have eaten came from Red Lobster. Does that offend your sense of decent sea food? :)

Jonathan - we don't use the "R" word around here, especially around young children. If you ever get up this way, I'll take you out and you can catch your own fresh crab!....

LOL! Sounds like a deal! Please apologize to any of the children who read this post and comments for my careless use of vulgarities...
