As an Arizona native, I was so excited about the Keller Williams Luxury Tour of our very own nationally recognized historic landmark, the Taliesin West located right in our own backyard! The tour guides did an outstanding job of weaving Frank Lloyd Wright's personal vision, history, architectural designs, and the ongoing commitment to education and architecture.

Taliesin West is a living legacy to the vision, inspiration, and mindset of a leader, Frank Lloyd Wright. Closely connected with his designs he said, “we must remember that architecture is not these buildings in themselves but far greater. We must believe architecture to be the living spirit that made buildings what they were. It is a spirit by and for man, a spirit of time and place.” It is through his buildings and creations that he left behind a piece of himself.

In addition to the visual architectural delights, the guide revealed interesting facts about Frank Lloyd Wright himself. Wright believed that music, drama, and the humanities were instrumental in achieving a well-rounded approach to design. According to the guide, if you did not play an instrument when you first joined the school, you would soon be learning. He believed in a sense of community and past and present students still get together together for lunch and dinner to discuss the day, ideas, and community. 

Frank Lloyd Wright believed in community and took care of those in his inner circle. This is evident when meeting his original attending physician, Dr. Joe who is still on-site penning the weekly newsletter well into his nineties. His daughter is also on-site running the summer camp. The tour is amazing. Wright is a true testimony to continuing to strive for the very best each and every day.
