My countdown has begun. 31 days until I will be driving to Winchester, VA to join my Active Rain friend Mike Cooper in his amazing fundraiser in support of the Susan G Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. 31 days until I will spin in support of the Ta-Tas!
Besides being a successful businessman and Realtor®, talented blogger with a very generous heart, Mike is also a Spinning-instructor. Although it has been awhile, I used to earn my living as a Spinning-instructor - back in the day when I was still a poor university student in Germany. I miss it a lot (the Spinning, not the poor University-student part). So when Mike called me out I not only jumped at the opportunity to spin again but also to support a wonderful cause.
Mike Cooper challenged his students to fill the spinning bikes at Studio B Cycling in Winchester, VA for 12 hours with 30 students per hour. He's helping them along quite a bit with spreading the word about the event, but we wont hold that against him.
I pledge to ride a minimum of 2 hours. I'll ride the first hour in memory of my grandmother who passed away in 2007 and the second hour in honor of my friend Conny. Conny and I worked at a gym in Germany together - she was a firecracker who made every shift a lot of fun. Conny was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and had a double mastectomy before she turned 30.
My grandmother, Conny and Mike are all very inspiring people. I'm honored to be part of this event.
The countdown is on: 31 more days until I spin in support of the Ta-Tas!
