Exit - Stage Right : Steve Jobs Dead at 56

Steve Jobs, legendary founder and passionate spokesman of Apple Computer died today.  Steve, like his colleague and competitor, Bill Gates of Microsoft, changed the world.  Steve had other successes (Pixar Animation Studios for example) but he will be forever linked with Apple.  Steve and Steve Wozniak and others marketed what may be the first commercially successful personal computer with the Apple II.  The use of the graphical user interface on the Lisa and the MacIntosh was a mere shadow of what was to come.

A constant innovator and a true American Entrepeneur, Steve ultimately brought success and growth to Apple by repeatedly reinventing the company with a series of remarkable products from the Ipod music player (with ITunes - a masterstroke of marketing) and the Iphone, still the ultimate smartphone, to the Ipad - a touch screen tablet computer.

Steve Jobs has been a larger than life character upon the stage of our lives.  He will be missed.

Ted - I just received a "google alerts" because of the title of your post (on my MacBook Pro, I might add...)!  I'm a huge Apple fan - love the sleek design and the simplicity.  So sad to hear of Steve Job's passing - he was a brilliant visionary.

Ted - You can't take your money with you when you leave this earth. You come in with nothing and you take nothing with you but good works and faith.

Ted:  I heard that Steve Jobs was adopted.  His biological mother gave him up.  I believe his father was Syrian.  Another plug for adoption.  Additionally his adopted parents encouraged him and nurtured his interest in electronics.  I believe parents should embrace the interests of the children not the other way around.

He was a visionary and extraordinarily creative.  Cancer has no mercy.  50 years ago we vowed to defeat it, and we are still no closer to an answer.

Bonnie - Steve Jobs was a complex person with many facets to his personality - not all favorable just like the rest of us.  But in terms of relentlessly innovative and outside the box... WOW!

I think we have made progress with cancer but some of the treatments are still worse than the disease.  I also believe that the food industries have removed nutrition from our foods and introduced chemicals to promote appearance and shelf life - which may have brought an increase in cancer.

Ted, late on this thread, and late being an Apple fan. Once I purchased my iPhone last year I realized that I have been a fan all along. Steve Jobs will be sorely missed.
