Goodbye, Blackberry - It’s Been a Blast
Yesterday was a momentous day, for me at least.
Blackberry and I parted ways, after years of dating (and several partners), since 2002 I think. I considered myself a hardened “Crackberry” user but apparently that was not the case.
Or I found the strength, with encouragement from others, to break the habit.
Easing myself out of the relationship wasn’t that hard, in the final moments once the decision was made, but getting to the point of saying “time to say goodbye Blackberry” took a while.
Admittedly I have been putting it off.
The thought of making a major cell phone change and having to learn all kinds of new movements, buttons, and applications was not appealing. But there were good reasons for saying goodbye, in addition to concerns about RIMs’ direction and stability, which aren’t worth getting into, and things I knew a new partner would be willing to do. LOL
My new phone and I are getting along well. As in any dating relationship, in less than 24 hours, we are learning about what we like and don’t like, and which buttons to push to get the other to do what we want.
There’s still lots of territory to cover, but time to do that. And we're still fumbling around, and those in a new relationship often do. I'm not in control yet, which is an issue.
Good thing is that I can do the essentials, like answering and making calls, texting, using my calendar, and emailing. New apps have been added and the ringtones are more pleasant than “droid!!”
Goodbye Blackberry. It’s been real.
