Redding CA - Flowers in My Courtyard - Growing a Small Garden--We downsized last May to a beautiful little Frank Lloyd Wright home. We are loving it. I have a small Courtyard and I am gardening again and planning ever so carefully what will go in the garden.
Toni Weidman writes about her garden often and the butterflies that visit along with the Hummingbirds. I have the Hummies coming but became inspired by Toni's photos of butterflies to buy a Lantana plant to attract the butterflies. Toni also wrote about this plant recently and ergo my desire to put it in my garden. So here is a visit to my small courtyard.
We are currently in the process of selling our table and chairs....so that we can pull out our Chimanea to enjoy early and late evening fires. It's a bit cramped but we are making progress.
Gendron Front Door - Jeanean Gendron
Here's our front door and our little Pumpkin I bought last weekend. It is a "Cindarella" Pumpkin, a French Heirloom variety (very good for cooking). Ginger, our Golden Retriever decided that it needed a companion and put a small gratefruit next to my Pumpkin. I love it.
Lantana Plant - Jeanean Gendron
Here is the Lantana plant that Toni Weidman inspired me to buy so that we attract butterflies to our garden. I had one spot left that will be perfect. I bought two plants. One lavendar and one that is pink and yellow. Yeah Butterflies!
Impatients - Jeanean Gendron
Here are our Impatients that have had shade for most of the day. Still too hot for them here in Redding. Next year, I will have to think of something else to plant.
Vintage - Jeanean Gendron
This is our built-in 1940 barbeque....cool hey? I use it for plants. These are succulents that one of my clients gave me when she moved away. I was afraid I would lose them but they are flourishing! Happy plants...we like happy plants.
Birdhouse Corner - Jeanean Gendron
This is the one spot where the Lantana plant will go. See the empty pot. It's a little crowded and there is our Pumpkin and the Ginger Gratefruit!
Pumpkin and Gratefruit - Jeanean Gendron
I just love the fact that Ginger brought me a Gratefruit to keep the Pumpkin company. Life is sweet!
