(In memory of Steve Jobs and his creative bent)
The irony of it all.
I crafted a blog two days ago about “out-of-the-box” thinking, and one day later, perhaps the greatest visionary leader of our time, Steve Jobs, dies at the age of 56.
For those closest to him, it has been reported they were aware of the toll that pancreatic cancer had taken on this creative genius of our times. But for the rest of us, I think we were hoping that his life might have been extended a little longer, seeing how he was able to create something better from the traditional ways.
Pixar, IMac, Iphone, Ipod, Ipad and another 300 technological patents are just the beginning of this man’s resume. And personally, I do not have anything else to add about his extraordinary achievements, nor am I of any important position to make any fact-filled statements about his personal life.
Except to say, from what he created, I now use. And importantly, he connected with what my core needs are about technology. He converted the nerdy parts into cool ones. Jobs understood me, though we’ve never met. And because he intuitively knew what I needed to help make our business better, he knew that we would invest in the Apple products, regardless of price.
Thank you Steve Jobs for your innovative contributions. I think all of us share similar sentiments. And thank you for being an example of making something big happen for your life, when starting from a smaller place in life.
I hope many will try to follow in your footsteps, though very few will go as far as you did. To your family, and as part of the Active Rain community, I send my deepest condolences.
