If They Are Looking Now, They Must Be Pretty Serious

If you don't live in Northern Colorado, you may think that the weather this time of year is horrible.  Well, right now I'm looking out my office window and I see small patches of snow on the ground, at least 200 canadian geese on Lake Loveland and I can walk outside without a jacket and still be very comfortable.

For some reason (maybe the holidays) homebuyers seem to take a "we'll wait until the new year" mentality.  Right now, if you need housing, their may not be a better time to start shopping for your next home.  Why?

  • Less Competition
  • The weather is great
  • Interest rates have gone down (somewhere in the 5.625% range)
  • Some sellers may be more eager to accept a "deal"
  • The really great houses may be gone if buyers wait until early next year
  • Did I mention that the weather is great

The bottom line is this: if you are a seller and you are getting showings on your home in the month of December, the potential buyers are very, very serious.  Take heart, it may just be a matter of days or weeks before you will see light at the end of the tunnel.  Another word of advise to sellers, do not take your home off the market in the month of December.  I say this without knowing your specific situation but trust me, a little inconvenience now may lead to the sale of your property.
