How to DE CLUTTER your home.

Has it been a while since you threw out a few things? It is normal to hold onto something with the idea that you might need it in the future. However if you find that you have items that you have not touched in over 2 years you may want to think about donating these items to your local good will.

Where should you start? If you don't love or use an object get rid of it. You will be amazed at how good you feel when you have no more clutter in your home.

  • If you are holding onto something you don't like because your special aunt gave it to you for your birthday. Get rid of it! Having an object in your home that you don't like lowers the energy of your home.
  • Start with one room at a time so you don't get overwhelmed.
  • Have your kids work on their rooms so they will learn not to keep clutter.
  • Get rid of the famous pile in the corner. You know the one I am talking about!
  • In the kitchen if you have not cooked with it in 4 years chances are you never will.
  • In the closet if you have not worn it in 2 years chances are you never will.
  • Number one tip. Don't be attached to things. They are just things.

I can't emphasis enough how important this is. I'll sometimes have to shoot an occupied home and if there is clutter (even if intentional such as "display trinkets" I won't shoot. The image becomes too busy and the focus becomes the object instead of the home.

Sometimes its hard to get rid of things.  So I thought it would be a good blog... The pictures above are not my own home but I do need to declutter. With three kids running around there is always a mess somewhere.

Sometimes I think I write these blogs for my own personal help LOL.
