Here is Russel's weekly Golden Oldies post. I always find them fun to read and comment on.

This is a reblog, and I always disable comments on reblogs out of respect for the original author who did all the work. If you would like to leave a comment, click on the link below and leave your comment with Russel who deserves your support with your comments.

Golden Oldies, #16 (October 8, 2011)

Happy Saturday!Check in here each Saturday no later than noon Pacific Time and immediately find ten to fifteen Golden Oldies that I think are worthy of reading, commenting on, and perhaps even reblogging.

How Golden Oldies works: I choose the people first and then I slog through their blogs for days on end to find an old post that is worthy of reblogging and that has few comments. After I read the post, I choose a snippet to include here.

Once you appear as a Golden Oldies, you won't appear again. No same old, same old here. No highlighting friends week after week. No highlighting any posts that have already been featured by ActiveRain.

In my blog we spread the wealth around to try to help as many people as possible get a little extra Google juice and some more comment points. If you haven't appeared yet, don't be surprised when you do!

If you don't like any of my choices here, check past Golden Oldies since I always search out posts that are not time-sensitive. Of course, you can also go find your own! So there!

Following are today's Golden Oldies. Read, comment, and reblog. Be sure to tell them that Russel Ray sent you their way!

  1. Clint McKieYour client calls and needs something,,, (September 9, 2010), by Clint McKie, Desert Sun Home Inspections/ Energy Audits (Carlsbad, New Mexico).  If you can provide a name for the clients to call then you just made ''THE A LIST'' in their minds.
  2. Cindy JonesA cool tool — Housing and transportation calculator (June 24, 2009), by Cindy Jones, CJ Realty Group (Woodbridge, Virginia). The calculator is not restricted to Northern Virginia so anyone in the country can use it to see how their communities compare.
  3. Barbara Hensley"Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground" (October 21, 2010), by Barbara Hensley, RE/MAX Hometown (Rockwall, Texas). I remember the smug comments from some of the leading agents, top dogs, and divine divas: "You are nuts if you think this is going to work! This is a fad!  This won't last!"
  4. Jack MossmanAll I do is work, work work, but I'm not getting anywhere (July 16, 2010), by Jack Mossman, The Nines Team Realty (Stockton, California). Get involved in your community, become unafraid to express an opinion, seek activities that are outside your professional area to establish context of your skills in this remarkable Global Experience.
  5. Praful ThakarDid you get feedback for showing of your listing? (July 26, 1010), by Praful Thakar, Keller Williams Realty (Andover, Massachusetts). I am always surprised at two faces of some of the agents. As a listing agent, they want the feedback as soon as the showing is over. As a showing agent, they would expect to 'hold on' for a while as buyer may take time to decide.
  6. Beverly FemiaWhen did homes begin to "boast?" (January 3, 2010), by Beverly Femia, Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty (Hampstead, North Carolina).  For example, this house "boasts" a large master bedroom or "boasts" a Jacuzzi tub or.... I say, enough with the "boasting." In fact, "boast" has always had a negative connotation right up there next to brag.
  7. Carla FreundIf 80% of buyers are buying purple homes, then paint your house purple! (July 28, 2010), by Carla Freund, Fonville Morisey Realty - Kowitz & Freund Team Realty (Cary, North Carolina). We do need to point out to our sellers that they're not buying the house. Someone else is buying the house, and we need the house to appeal to those potential buyers.
  8. Carol ZingoneWhat does your email time stamp say about you? (July 31, 2010), by Carol Zingone, Prudential Network Realty (Jacksonville Beach, Florida). I work odd hours at times but try to keep in mind that if I send an email when I'm going through an insomnia bout at 3:00 am, how does that make me appear?
  9. Laura BakerCommunication ~ Did youknow? (November 1, 2010), by Laura Baker, Ready? Set,..Sell! Home Staging/ReDesign (Madison, Wisconsin). Every Communication is Really Eight Communications.... No wonder we seldom get anything strait the first time around!
  10. Rob ArnoldHaunted house for sale? (October 31, 2009), by Rob Arnold, Sand Dollar Realty Group (Orlando, Florida). The night after I bought the house, I wanted to go and check out this supposed "curse." I will admit that I did hear a bunch of noises when I was over there. It sounded like the whole house was moving. But it wasn't from ghosts.  It was from....
  11. Todd and Devona GarrigusDon't put your head in the sand! If you're having trouble paying your mortgage, short sell it! (December 19, 2009), by Todd and Devona Garrigus, Coldwell Banker Kivett-Teeters (Beaumont, California). Losing control of your mortgage can be devastating and embarrassing, but don't let your emotions keep you from exploring your options!
  12. Janna Rankin ScharfThese MLS photos are just wrong! I think my head is going to explode! (May 18, 2009), by Janna Rankin Scharf, Keller Williams Realty (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho). How can an agent who is savvy enough to land such a listing be so dumb about what constitutes an acceptable marketing photo? These photos would be unacceptable no matter the price of the home, but for a multi-million dollar listing it is outrageous.
  13. Mary MacyI'm not perfect, but I am working hard out here to care for people (July 12, 2010), by Mary Macy, Top Agents Atlanta Metro (Atlanta, Georgia). Real Estate can be such a demanding job on a good day — review paperwork, write contracts, answer sales calls, learn new programs, blog, text, remember birthdays, blah blah blah. You must just love people to survive this business.
