CAR

The Colorado Association of Realtors had their State convention downtown at the Sheraton Hotel last week.     This was a great opportunity to see new technology, take CE classes, network with Realtors across the State and enjoy some great speakers.    There was even a talent night --- Realtors Got Talent where 5 selected performances were selected and the audience got to choose the winner!

The keynote speaker this year was Michael Combs, a high energy motivational speaker.     Michael was a Realtor at the Evergreen Board of Realtors when he had to leave the business with a serious disease.    His heart stopped (twice), and during those few minutes he could only think of his regrets.

    Michael Combs

He did survive and vowed he would never have regrets again.    He had always wanted to fly, and set out to accomplish that!     In the past two years, he has flown HOPE ONE over 50 states and has logged over 29,000 miles, 175 airports and has set four world records.    He achieved his lifelong goal of flying!   Read more about his life.

What would you do differently if today was your last day?

After this keynote, many of us went to lunch and thought about what he had to say, and we went around the table, and voiced our answers.     Many were very surprising - they were personal goals not directly affecting family or business.    My answer was -- I will go to Costa Rica!     I have had this on my list for quite a while, and do many trips by myself, but think this one I should go with a tour or do this trip with a friend.

Mykael, there are many examples of those living WAY past their day (according to docs), and can be inspired.     Glad to hear about your mother in law!     Your last events sound perfect!  THX for sharing!

Wow a great story about Michael Combs.  Very motivational.  I have so many regrets I can't even go there.  God knew what He was doing when He didnt' let us know when our last day would be.  So until that day comes we dance the dance of life to the fullest!

Best regards from The Q

Isn't it wonderful when we have those moments of absolute clarity that help us reaffirm what's really important?  Costa Rica is lovely, Joan - and I hope you get there real soon!

June, this is a very similar thought to the one posed by Steve Jobs in the Commencement speech quite a few AR members posted last week. It always helps to put life in prospective.  I hope you get to go on that trip soon and take lots of pictures of course.

Joan (not June) this was a very motivational story.  I'm so happy that Michael took the opportunity to fullfil his lifelong dreams.  It makes me wonder.....

Hmmm, I don't know what I would put at the top of my list.  Good to think about.  Give me a shout before you head to CR.  I just went last spring with my hubby, and it was amazing!

Joan, it is a tough question to answer, when you have commitments to your family, your business and... just be ready and know where you are going after life.

Joan, thanks for sharing this story...it does make you stop and think, doesn't it? I would spend the day with Bob and our doggies, without a second thought. I hope you don't wait too long to make that trip to Costa Rica! :)

I guess I have to say I'm blessed. I am around my kids every day since I work from home. I travel internationally, I lived in Hawaii, I spend my days with clients that I like and avoid people I don't. I went to Costa Rica on missionary trip. I went zip lining this year. I've been snow skiing twice, kayaking this year. Hmmm. I am pretty blessed. It makes me appreciate what I do for a living.

Joan -- I'd probably say some prayers first, then grab my family and dog (no need to pack) get on a private jet and head for Bermuda. BTW, you should plan that trip to Costa Rica for yourself.

If today were my last day on earth, I would love to think that I would spend it asking my friends and family if they know Jesus Christ. Not know OF him, I mean KNOW him. I know where I am going. I would want to do my best to make sure that I will see you again! :)))) XOXO

Hi Joan,

Costa Rica sounds like a good goal.  I got to go last December with my husband, his cousin, and some friends.  It was really fun.  I'm not sure what I'd do if it were my last day on earth.  I'll have to think about it!

Maybe that's why we are kept in the dark about when that is going to happen. We would all run around like little mice going in different directions trying to get it all done. Then we would be so exhausted, we've have to sleep!

Hi Joan - I have heard that Costa Rica is beautiful. There are so many beautiful places--I just hope I have time to get to some of them.  I think the only way to live is to think this could be your last day--and hope like hell that it isn't. Have a great trip in Costa Rica.

I do live every day like it is my last!     Everyday wake and get what I want/need done to feel good by the end of the day!      Someday I do want to get to Costa Rica, but maybe when the market comes even stronger!      I want to be sure I have a HUGE nest egg saved so just in case it all goes into the tank again, I am ready!
