Durango and La Plata County YTD Residential Sales Statistics

We have recently completed a different analysis of the Durango La Plata County YTD residential sales statistics.  In the following chart, month by month sales stats are given for the total number of residential units sold in that month for the corresponding year.  No dollar limit, either high or low, was used, so a small number of unit sales that are mobile homes in rental parks are included in these figures.

As you can see, 5 of the 9 months this year showed improvements over the same month in 2010.  Every single month, but one, of 2011, showed an increase over the 2009 sales.  Of those that did not show an improvement, one month was the same as last year and two months were within two units.  Through September, 2011 YTD is just a few units short of the entire year of 2009.  Assuming we continue on this pace, the 2011 statistics will show a good two-year trend of increasing Durango real estate sales.  In speaking with Chuck Owens, The Wells Group sales manager, he shows closings on the book for October to be ahead of last year.  Please note that all of these statistics include all of the real estate brokers in the Durango Board of Realtors, not just those with The Wells Group.  Also, when I use the term Durango real estate sales, please remember that includes all of the cities and towns within La Plata County: Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, Hesperus and Red Mesa.

 

 

In addition to this type of analysis, those who follow my blog regularly are aware that I do a comprehensive analysis by price brackets of roughly $200,000 each bracket.  That analysis is then compared to the previous year's statistics for the exact same time period .  I further break it down by those price brackets, as to specifically where the buyers purchased: Durango in town; Durango rural; Bayfield in town; Bayfield rural; and properties at the resort.  You can take a look at that analysis at the following link:
