Komen

If you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, you may already know that the Susan G. Komen Race For A Cure is this Saturday, October 15, 2011 at NorthPark Center.

The first Komen Dallas Race for the Cure® was held in 1983 and had 800 participants.  Since then, the Dallas numbers have grown to over 26,000 women, men and children.  In 2011 over $1,912,000.00 was granted to local service providers to fund innovative education, screening, and treatment programs for the underserved in Dallas County.  You can get involved and make a difference!

ABOUT Susan G. Komen for the Cure:
Susan Goodman Komen fought breast cancer with her sister Nancy Goodman Brinker at her side. Throughout her diagnosis, and treatments, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer.  Though Susan lost her battle with cancer, her legacy lives on through the work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the organization Nancy started in her honor. Komen for the Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement.

I am so glad to hear about all these events. I wish that they would go on yearly, yes there is a lot that goes towards the research during this month, but what about for the rest of the year?
