Tim,
I heard a few interviews with participants, and gosh, do ot even want to say what I think about them.
I'm with Jon...These people sure aren't doing their cause any good no matter how "noble" they think it is!

Tim,
While I think there are some good messages, unfortunately, there are some coming off really bad.
The message is certainly not unified. However, our government, systems, etc are very broken. The debt deal debacle with the President and Congress looked like a bad kindergarten sandbox fight. Sad, sad, sad.
I hope we can get a better group to take on real problems.
All the best, Michelle
They may not know where to start... But at least they are starting something. I give them credit for standing up for what they believe in. They are doing it in a way to hopefully get ALL of us thinking about how things are going in America. That's the whole point of protest. I am tired of everyone saying they are all homeless, workless, hippies who should go and get a job and get off the streets. There may be some who are homeless, but isn't that part of the point of the protest. They are tired of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. There are several people who are out there who are now homeless and who just a few years ago never thought they would be. If you are fortunate enough to have a job and a home and a great life, then good for you, but that doesn't mean you ignore people who are less fortunate. It's not only about getting off your ass and getting a job... There's more to everyone's story. Sorry to throw up on your post, but this issue has been bothering me the last couple of days. Had to say something. Great post! Something is wrong with America. Until we all come together and hear ALL people who live here, then nothing will get accomplished.
Jon and Ricardo, I agree that many of these protesters don't come off well when they are asked questions. But for some, taking action is significant and hopefully this will get them started on the road to what has really been happening. I guess some act first and then figure it all out. Others analyse it all before they take any action.
Michelle, It sure would help to have a unified message but it looks like they are trying to do some "crowd sourcing". Get people together and then figure out the problem and solution.
Stacis, I agree with you. They might not know exactly what's wrong and maybe are blaming the wrong thing, but at least they feel something is wrong and are making the effort to stand up and be noticed. It's getting the conversation started.
Here's a good Reuter's story about the origin of Occupy Wall Street. They try to make ties to some people who have funded the group. People try to make connections with George Soros but those ties seem to be pretty minor in the whole scheme of it all.
Don't kid yourself Tim. It is NEVER a bad idea to determine who the "man" behind the curtain is...no matter where you are in the political spectrum.
Cheers
Riccardo
