My Kodak DX3600 is on it's last legs.  So sad to see an old friend go, but it's really been a work horse.  I got it for Christmas in 2002, and it was a refurbished camera bought on halfprice.com - it was only $200, including the docking station and a one year warranty.  I've sent it back to Kodak twice for repairs to the lens cover and they repaired it both times free of charge.  (The first time was about 2 months after I got it, and the second was 5 days after the warranty expired, but they honored the warranty anyway.  Good customer service.)  I've taken about 4,700 pictures with it, and that was BEFORE I started staging!

My business is beginning to take off - slow but steady - and I need a better camera.  (It's also my birthday next month... wonderful how these things coincide!)  I've read a lot about both the Kodak V570 and the V705, but which one is really better?  Here in the Rain there are accolades and complaints about both cameras.  For staging and real estate photos, which do you prefer?  They seem to be pretty much the same camera but at a cost difference of $100.

By the way, I've got a 30% off coupon from the Kodak to use at their on-line store.  AND I'll be taking the camera to France next year (never been - can't wait!).

What's your opinion on the cameras?

Thanks!

Its almost always better to get the upgraded version.  You go from a 5 meg camera to an 8 meg camera with some improved processing and such.  If you do a search you will find most people like the camera but there are problems with slow focusing.  It sometimes gives soft pictures.  I had one for about 3 months and it went swimming.  The 24mm lens is great for inside shots but the flash can be a bit weak.  Here is a flash I bought that will work with it  Vivitar DF 120

These are two pictures I took with the camera when I had it.  Kodak really captures the blues in the skys outside.  I have an older Kodak 6440 that gives pictures a warmer hue and people like it even though the colors aren't quite right.

We had mixed results with the V705.  While the dual lens...includes a wider angle lens...was useful to get better in-room (without doorways showing) shots, the camera seemed quite fragile.  Then, sure enough, just as we read on Amazon.com, the unit seized up.  We still need to send it for service to Kodak, but have read they are super-picky about fixing, and refuse a number of repairs on the grounds of "user inflicted damage".  AND if they refuse to fix...they also charge you $50 or so to even return the broken camera to you.  When it worked, took nice shots, however!

Nikola - Thanks for the feedback.  I ended up getting a V705 because of the dual lens, and the resolution is good.  I also had a 30% off coupon from the Kodak on-line store, so that was an incentive as well.  So far I've been very pleased with the results, both for professional photos and personal.

I do know all about their repair policy - I had to return my previous camera twice, but the $50 was for them to evaluate it.  I basically begged and pleaded to get them to fix it, which they did, even though it was 3 days past the warrenty.
