Donne did another great job with this week's picks.  Let me say that Dave Roberts' article is ALL THAT.

And, the others are very good, too.  I will ask you to thank Donne for the time she puts into these posts each week.  It is the best of the best.

And, thanks to you for keeping this place a great resource.

Well, this week there were so many really great posts here in the rain by some of my fave bloggers as well as some newbie bloggers that I’ve recently come across.  First and foremost, I just want to give a shout out to my fellow rainers for their gold star features that I was happy to "call the shot" on them.

Stepping on Local Toes - A Bad Idea by Dave Roberts

Technology IS "All That" but It is NOT Everything! by Susan Haughton

These were excellent posts that had some really great comments, which is one of the best things I love about great posts.  With some posts, the comments can actually be better than the post.  Check them out.  Then there were some other equally great posts that I suggested but that the AR Gods must have missed this week when they were bestowing those little gold stars.

First there was I Fired a Client This Week and it Felt Great by newbie blogger, Belinda Spillman.  Not being a listing agent, I couldn't personally relate to having a client like the one Belinda fired but as an MLO here in Los Angeles & Ventura counties, I have most certainly worked across the table from sellers who literally drove everyone in the transaction bonkers with their ridiculous attitudes and sabotaging shenanigans.

Belinda relays a recent experience she had with a seller who really didn't want to sell.  These folks are a menace to everyone they come into contact with; first their listing agent and then later to prospective buyers and their agents.  God forbid these bozos actually get into escrow because that's when the real nonsense begins.

Personally, I commend Belinda for the way she handled her experience.  Perhaps if more Realtors/agents had the courage to do what she did, these bozos wouldn't have anyone else to enable them to inflict their nonsense on.

Then there was newbie blogger, David Shamansky with his post, We have a right to privacy, so why do millions voluntarily give it away???.  David brings up a topic that I am constantly warning borrowers about - protecting our privacy!

In the days of Facebook and Twitter and gazillions of social networking sites, I can not believe the amount of personal and private info that people are willingly blasting all over the net!  Personally, I find it absolutely atrocious the kinds of stuff people are revealing to millions of strangers all over the world.  And people wonder how identity theft happens and why it's increasing like a wildfire.

Anyway, while I am a blogging fan, I still often worry about the stuff that I blog about.  Last year, I deleted my FB acct after I picked up two stalkers and one that even creeped out hubby who was glad when I deleted my acct.  Even now, he sometimes worries about the stuff I blog about here about our personal and private lives.

Next was "Active Rain Lynch Mob" or Moral Compass by Dominic Tartaglia.  Dominic relays a recent experience here on AR where another blogger referred to the tongue lashing he got by fellow rainers as a "Lynch Mob".  Based on many of the comments, it was actually more of a moral compass of sorts where the community made it very clear to the blogger where they stood on certains actions and attitudes.

Personally, I found it rather bizarre that the blogger actually thought he would get a pat on the back from this community for defending illegal conduct and encouraging tolerance of unethical attitudes.  If there is one thing that I have always appreciated about this community and that is that so many here are extremely dedicated and devoted to higher standards and a code of ethics and I'm not just referring to a Realtors code of ethics either.  Check out Dominic's post.

Then there was Larry and Sheila Agranoff with their post, Blog Posts That Go On and On and On! .  These types of posts just irritate me.  As a bit of a verbose blogger, I couldn't care less that a lot of people here don't have the attention span of a knat.  SERIOUSLY!!!

If someone can't manage to focus on something long enough to read more than 500 words, that's their problem, not mine.  Fortunately, I am not alone in this attitude and there are still those of us who refuse to limit our conversations and discussions to a 140 characters or less.  On that note, if you find my 500+ word posts boring and too long, then move on - you're not my target audience.

Lastly, there was YOU TEXTED ME WHAT? Can you do that? by Scott Godzyk.  Scott's post reminded me a little of the feature post from Susan Haughton about how all the latest technology and all the greatest gadgets are not going to make you a better at your job if you simply don't know what you're doing.

Before all the latest and greatest technology and gadgets can help you improve your business, you need to know what you're doing.  Before implementing all this crap into your business and systems, you have to know all of the different aspects of your job.

Perhaps if more of us actually spent more time and energy learning our business and getting good at what it is we do before implementing all the latest and greatest technology and gadgets into our business, then just maybe, we wouldn't need some of these things to actually do our job.

I don't know, what do I know.  I'm just an MLO who doesn't have every single gadget on the market and who doesn't belong to every single social network on the net and yet, I still manage to do my job everyday as well as serve my clients and prospects in the manner that is expected of me.

As always, I love "calling the shots”.  I’m pretty picky and selective about whom I suggest.  I intentionally highlight my fave bloggers and then I look for new bloggers or bloggers that aren’t on the feature board every other day.  Anyone can suggest all the popular bloggers but finding the hidden treasures and gems is so much better.  I hope you check them out and enjoy them as much as I did.
