Using Stop Words in Title Tags - What's Your Best Practice?
Over the the years in real estate my business relies more and more on the use of websites, blogs and social media. I am now at the point where 100% of my business is now generated from the Internet and webs. I'm not bragging, it is what I do to earn a living in real estate, and I am know nationally in real estate for my SEO and web placement abilities. However, I also like staying below the radar, and only do seminars and speaking engagements sparingly. I can personally attest that much of that success is solely based upon my time on the web, the age of my domains, a lot of trial and error, and cumulative experience gained from over 15 years on the web. So now the secret is out! I've just been doing this for a long time so to me it is second nature.
However, I recently came across an a thread on the web that talked about stop words, and what words to avoid using in a title tag. These stop words are that are not supposed to be in your title, and if so used sparingly because the search engines do not like them. It's interesting, but I've never really paid much attention to the use or non-use of these words because I have my own idea how to write title tags, meta descriptions, keywords and tags and but thought it would be a great topic of discussion for Active Rain! What words or words do you avoid using in your title(s) of WebPages, WordPress blogs or posts? Some of the more common stop words that are suggested not to be used in a title or title tag are:
and, an, at,which, on, a, the, for, to... etc.
