A Simple Gift Idea

Reblogger Wallace S. Gibson, CPM
Property Manager with Gibson Management Group, Ltd.

I was in TARGET on Thursday buying NEW door mats for my vacant properties.  I routinely put the NEW ones at the front door and rotate the older one to the garage or deck/back door entry.  I REALLY spruces up the FIRST IMPRESSION

Frequently when the sellers move out of their homes, they leave old welcome mats at the front door and or back door. Who wants to pack old door mats, and who wants to use somebody else's old door mats?

So here is a gift idea that is thoughtful and very cost effective. Buy a new doormat or two for your clients to surprise them when they approach their front door after closing. If you know how, make a colorful bow or buy a gigantic one from your local WalMart. You can find a big bow for less than $3.

I bought this simple doormat from WalMart and made the bow myself. I sometimes add a dinner certificate from a local restaurant, or create a small gift basket for the happy homeowners.

Good idea....we also work with a company that will personalize them and give the certificate to new homeowners...so they can call their new house "home."

Great idea, and adding the bow is a nice finishing touch. It's usually the thoughtful, unexpected gestures that get remembered!

Thanks for the reblog, Wallace. I will adopt your equally 'best practice' of keeping a supply of them in my trunk.

I was going to post it here on Jay's new group, but you beat me to it. LOL

Thanks again!

I love your idea, keep sending them my way...I could use all the nifty tips you have to leave a memorable gift...but quick question what do you give to your seller once their homes have sold? I don't hear people talk about the Sellers or do they not get a gift for using your service? Thanks.

Great reblog Wallace! A welcome mat can serve as two purposes - a kind gift for the seller and it cleans up the entry way. As a stager, I always give a gift to my clients and this is a great idea!

Good suggestion to spruce up the entry.  The bow takes the door mat from utilitarian to welcome gift.

Best Regards,

Kim
