It never ceases to amaze me. .

When doing short sales, I see the best and the worse on people.

In this particular case, it was one of our earlier short sales. .

Everybody was a little confused and not sure what a short sale was back then . .

But we knew we were helping people . .and that was that.

We were representing the seller and she was a little intimated about the process. To make matters worse, she was going trough a divorce and she was pretty upset about her situation.

Before closing, the buyers went back to this house for a walk thru . .just to make sure the property is fully vacated and clean of trash and debris as  its supposed to be.

At the closing table before we sat down, the buyer agent informed me that my client has removed all the blinds from the windows and they wanted some type compensation.

My client did not have any money. . and certainly, I wasn't going to pay for that from my pocket. .

So I came up with an easy solution. .

I explained to my client (in private)that the blinds were supposed to stay with the house as she told me so a few months earlier when we listed her house... 

I asked her, can you please bring them back. . after closing?

She reluctantly said yes. .

I went (a little relieved) to inform the buyers about this so we can continue with the closing. .

"Fernando , She Cut The Blinds!. ."

"They are no good anymore."

???????

"What? "

"What do yo mean she cut the blinds?"

She did it. . she did not take the time to remove the blinds to re-use..she just wanted them destroyed and she used scissors to cut the cords and left the tops of the blinds hanging like they all still there. .

Talk about a new meaning for a short sale. ."short blinds"

Oh, boy. where did I go wrong?.. .

Do I have to spell it out to someone doing a short sale..please do not cut the blinds out of revenge. .they were not the cause of your situation.. .really?

From that point on. .I try to spell it out clearly every time. . .The refrigerator stays. .because you bought the house with a refrigerator and is just the right thing to do. .comprende?

I tend to think about her from time to time. .

she was not really a bad person. .  

just a little misguided.
