Looks like he's trying to make clear who's boss!!
He does appear to be posing mighty and proud for your camera; nice shot!
Geese are so funny. They can flat out POSE for you one minute, come up and be sweet and then mean as a rattlesnake before you can sneeze! This one certainly appears to be showing off for you!!
The goose wanted his moment of fame! He earned it. He's probably posed for other passer-byers. You took a beautiful picture. Great job!
Hey John-that is what he was doing-his "lady" was probably close by and he was not going to have any part of you messin around!
Looks like he's showing off! Fabulous picture. BTW if you come through Phoenix on your way home be sure to call and have coffee. But come to think of it you'll probably head back north - darn. It would be so fun to meet you and your wife!
Hi Anna -
Oh the Goose was showing off alright and we were ready to run :) Thanks for the invite. We're actually back in Albuquerque now. We make Sedona an annual fall adventure. We love hiking and climbing around on those beautiful red rocks. We normally go to Mesa Arizona and stay a couple nights with my wife's cousins after a week in Sedona. A quick stop in Phoenix on the way to Mesa would be great and we'd both love to meet you for a cup of brew and finally meet in person.
Best Regards from The Q
Marco you may be on to something there! A number of Geese were around this one just lagged back as if back off dude.
Hi Joanne - Glad you dropped by this evening. This Goose got his 15 seconds of fame in the Rain :) Don't think he was too use to humans. We were pretty much in the woods or Bosque on the river. Most critters and birds in that area are wild. Glad he kept his distance!
Hi Joni - Yep you're right about a Goose and their attitude. I'm glad this one decided to just bluff us away... it worked :)
Hi Teral - Oh yes your correct this one posed for just enough time for a quick snap of the camera. We didn't hang around as he looked like he could take me! LOL
Hi Nancy - Glad to see you this afternoon. Oh there was no question of who was the boss. This Goose ruled and we knew it. No questions asked. LOL Have a great evening.
Hey Debb - Are you sure there was no blur? Should have been both our knees were knocking with this big ole Goose showing us what was what :)
Hi Josh - Thanks for the Kudos and glad you dropped by. Think most of this shot was good luck.
Hi Linda - Glad to see you in the Rain. This Goose had a mind of his own and nobody was telling to do anything. He ruled :)
Hi Barb - Glad you dropped by in the Rain today. Thank you for the kind words on this shot. Luck and a good subject had much to do with getting this shot. Hope you have a great evening.
Best regards from The Q
That's a really cool picture, John! I agree with Joni's comment #7, "Geese are so funny. They can flat out POSE for you one minute, come up and be sweet and then mean as a rattlesnake before you can sneeze! This one certainly appears to be showing off for you!!"
Hi John,
This is a great photo and I love how you took it right when he was posing with his wings spread. The surrounding colors are beautiful too. Exceptional John!
Hello John, we have Canadian Geese all around our neighborhood. We are near the Sacramento River and so we have them everywhere. I always love when I am coming home and have to wait for a gaggle of geese to cross the road. I love stopping and I always want to get my camera out....but can't cuz people behind me would try and shoot me....LOL! Glad you got the shot and maybe I can get down by the River soon for some of my own. Heading out to Clear Creek today for some time at my favorite spot and some shots. Have a beautiful day!
Canadian geese can be territorial sometimes, and they are sooooo big next to my son... So I might back up too!
