Things that don't change

By

We live in an everchanging world...

However, some things should never change.

One is the practice of common courtesy.

I admit that I am usually in somewhat of a hurry, but despite that, I have patience and follow the basic speed laws...

Today I needed some envelopes and zipped up the highway to Fruchey's Family Market during my lunch time while working the Wixom Lake Century21 Smith-Miller office located on M30 just North of Strykers Marina.

After finally finding them, and that was with the help of one of the workers, I headed for the check out counter. The cashier had no line but was finishing up with someone. I approached from one direction as an elderly gentleman, also with no cart approached from the opposite direction.  I could easily have quickened my step and been first in line. Instead, I smiled and slowed my step to allow him to go first. He returned my smile and motioned me to go first. I thanked him and set my box of envelopes on the counter.. and started fishing for the change to pay for them.

Reap what you sew comes to mind.....

The point : in case you missed it -

Common courtesy for one another will never go out of style .....

Practice it

While courtesy is applicable across all ages, most us don’t realize how much it means to “older people.” They appreciate being “seen” and respected. That gentleman felt better because of your kind act. Gold star to you Marilyn!

PS: What a great lake scene.

Thank you for posting this! It saddens me because I feel like more and more we are losing common courtesy. Thanks for sharing!

Marilyn, Thank you for this post!  I am glad that common courtesy still exists!  The truth is that both of you probably felt good about the situation!
