Dear Kristin,

I have exciting news to share about our ongoing campaign to stop notorious monkey-supplier Bioculture's plan to capture more than 4,000 monkeys in the wild, cruelly confine them to cages in Puerto Rico, and then sell their offspring to foreign laboratories for use in painful and deadly experiments.

Late last week, a Puerto Rico Court of Appeals ruled that the construction of the controversial Bioculture monkey-breeding facility in Guayama was illegal because the government permit for the project was issued improperly.

The decision upholds a December 2009 lower court ruling in a lawsuit that was filed by local citizens and PETA and deals another fatal blow to Bioculture's much-criticized plan to imprison monkeys in Puerto Rico.

Thanks to these court rulings, citizens' protests, and new pro-animal local ordinances, Bioculture's vile business now has no home in Puerto Rico.

Although PETA is pleased to have won this victory, more work remains!

Kristin, I agree they do good things, that is why I said I have mixed feelings about them. I took the time to read and learn about everything that they do and the picture changed for me, unfortunately. I am a huge animal lover, I volunteer at my local shelter/pound, I foster and I rescue so I just wish they used all the power to save animals - PETA kills most animals that enter their shelters... it is hard for me to accept that.
