Call for Action! Mortgage Interest Deduction at Risk

By
Real Estate Agent with The Berkshire Group

The National Association of Realtors have asked for a Call for Action!  The Mortgage Interest Deduction is at risk and no one seems to take it seriously!  I attended the Colorado Association of REALTORS annual convention in downtown Denver last week and I was astounded to learn that less than 10 percent of the REALTOR community have responded to the request by NAR to contact their Congressmen and Senators about the proposal to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction.  It would be devastating to my family and would have a horrible impact on the real estate market.

Our state organization sent out an email asking us to respond.  All I had to do was click a button and a communication was sent to my representatives.  Please take a moment to protect our clients and our own families.

That would certainly make the buy ve. rent decision more difficult to make.

This is very serious.  Just when you think it can't get any worse.

Eliminating the mortgage interest deduction will eliminate one of the most important incentives for home ownership.

I know they battled this one already and won. We do have some good lobbyists. I would like to think that the governent would see the severity of this measure and keep things in place. I think sometimes they just have to hype up an issue. But it is very important that when a call to action is made.. we all respond and take action.
