People relocating to Northern Virginia often ask what type of home they can purchase in different price ranges.  Other people who ask about this include current D.C. and Northern Virginia residents who have not been in the housing market for a while and potential investors from other parts of the country.

Homes in all price ranges are staying on the market in Northern Virginia for longer than in years past.  Inventory is at all time highs in the Metropolitan D.C. region, offering buyers and investors and opportunity to negotiate a lower price with the seller.

The $600,000 to $700,000 price range represents about 17% of the currently available single family home inventory for sale in Alexandria and Arlington

In Fairfax County, which for the most part is a bit further out from Downtown D.C., this price range represents 12% of all available detached single family homes.

The median sales price falls within this range.

Here are some examples of single family homes that you can purchase in Northern Virginia for just under $700,000.
