New Mexico is leading the way in commercial space travel. Spaceport America, located 60 miles north of Las Cruces, New Mexico, will be the hub for space tourism.

This spaceport building's design conveys the mystery and adventure associated with space travel thru its organic shape and low-slung form. It is currently under construction. Hard hat tours are available.
The state of New Mexico and Virgin Galactic in 2005 agreed to build the state-funded Spaceport America in the Land of Enchanment. Most recently, the New Mexico Space Authority dedicated the two-mile long road to the Spaceport as "Governor Bill Richardson Speedway."
